Condition: This is the only drone rug of this color so far. The blue-green color is one of the best in the contemporary vegetal dye palette. This rug has a red, white, and blue border that ads context for the rugs imagery.
The rug is in perfect new condition. It was received directly from the weaver's family.
Wool: The wool used in these "vegetable dye Peshawars" is spun by hand. Fifteen years ago the wool would come exclusively from Ghazni Afghanistan, but now supposedly some also comes from Bedouin sheperds Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
Sheen: Excellent sheen from both the fine quality wools as well as the rinse from the washing
Handle: Very firm with slight edge roll on the bottom edge.
Selvedge: Blue green selvedge matches main field color. Selvedge covers two warp cords with wool to protect the cotton weft threads when they reach the last warp, turn around and pas back into the rug.
Pile: Hand spun wool
Warp: White cotton
Weft: White cotton
