Condition: For an 1980s rug this war rug is in good condition. The field blue is oxidized at tips. Pile is still full and complete. Excellent madder red in body of vases. Border tan color appears undyed, as does darker browns, light tans and whites. The drawing
Wool: Excellent hand spun wool throughout. Good sheen, soft, smooth nap.
Sheen: Very good and excellent in blue field.
Handle: Very floppy
Selvedge: Selvedge is unusually thick threads of goat hair overcast and braided. Evenly worn all over showing wool wefts at the end
Fringe: Great kilim ends reminiscent of antique Baluchi and Timuri carpets. On bottom, after border, is a band of red and brown twisted weft float before and after a two inch band of chocolate and white weft substitution. Next, towards end, is a 3 inch section
Pile: 4mm
Warp: Natural color wool, 2S with some dark strands,
Weft: Double weft with wool like semi antique Afghan Baluchi rugs.
Warp Depression: Flat, no warp depression
