New condition. This is an example of what Kevin Sudeith has duped, 'the feedback loop' where public discussions of war rugs sparks new iterations of these designs. Discussion on Nigel Lendon's blog.
Wool: Medium quality wool from western Afghanistan. Sheen: Sheen is good for new rug. Handle: Baluchi rugs are generally floppy, but this one is on the stronger side of floppy. Selvedge: Braided goat hair, but matt finish goat hair, not the more shiney version.
Fringe: Pile ends with a blue, red then natural band of kilim end. The natural color appears to be the same wool as the warps. Overhand knots, three inch fringe. Pile: 7mmWarp: 2S tan to brown wool . Weft: Black wool.
Warp Depression:Some warp depression.
